The Stone Legacy! Just one of the things that's been on the table....

I've had this project on my table for what seems like a lifetime...  In my defense I took it on just before getting a job that moved me to another state & the job/state/life change that happened made this project get shelved & slowly worked on over time. I started sculpting on it a bit & figuring it out before we even had a house here. This is what I would do to unwind after work in the transition period.
Next I had to get some equipment for a more professional setup once we got settled. Then I was experimenting with plastics and additives and techniques for casting...


Meanwhile... over at The Stone Legacy camp they've been been tirelessly working on getting the comic book out and doing all the stuff that goes along with that so nobody's shown up to kneecap me YEAH!

We are still working out the details. Basically I am doing a treatment on this piece how I envisioned it to present & we will go from there. This piece is bigger than stuff I have been doing on my own for awhile & is more of a bust than anything.

Nothing to show as far as the resin piece as I haven't shot it yet and I kind of have to see where we're going as far as a treatment or colorway.... but I guess I can quick find a shot or 2 of the original sculpt...

Cthulhu Test Pull 2 Available Now! Ends 05.07.11

Cthulhu 1.2 Release Details on the Colorways

Here's some pics of the colorways offered in this release.

First up is an inkwash treatment. This is a hand mixed transparent ink color that has been layered up to create a patina finish. This is how I would picture a Cthulhu idol to be colored, very organic and freeform color.

And with this one I stepped outside of my normal comfort zone as far as painting. Normally I start with a black undercoat followed by drybrushing white then I build my colors from there. This time I started with a white primer and also swapped out my normal color pallet for more vibrant colors and used a pearlizing medium for the main body color. All these colors were slowly built up until I achieved a look that I loved even being completely outside of how I normally work. The wings are a blend of metallic copper colors and the tentacles are fairly neon green,

Last but certainly not least we have the chase figure which looks pretty simple at first glance... I started these guys out with a clear resin with green dye & then mixed in some crazy glow in the dark green. After that I proceeded to cover them in the same ink from the inked pieces. Spent some time adding the ink & wiping it off until it showed enough of the detail but still let in light to charge the glow. There are only 7 of the chase figures out of the 37 pieces & only 2 of those ended up having the bead eyes, the rest have cast painted eyes.

Provided nothing explodes around here as often does... looks like C1.2 will drop tomorrow evening. Start keeping an eye out from 6pm Monday evening MST. I will give a last call 30 minutes prior to the drop & then they will be available in the store.

Hmmm....  think I forgot to mention that these translucent green chase figures also have a subtle eerie glow effect to them as well.

Cthulhu 1.2 Release Update

Looks like we will have a Monday possibly Tuesday release for this coming week. I am expecting pictures back from the photographer Monday so if all goes well they will be available Monday evening. Tuesday if Monday gets crazy around here.

For the weekend we have a couple more pics to add to the UofM teaser pic.

First we have a great guy that runs Nama Niku posted his teaser on his twitter account. Nama Niku is another great place for all things Kinnikuman and beyond.

Now we have Red Hot Robot... an amazing little gem of a store here in town. He dropped his pic on his Facebook page. RHR also has an online presence if you can't quite make it into the store.... but if you can make it in.... DO!


I have to thank everyone here that is helping get the word out so keep me in mind when I start doing shows again.
